Media

Quentin is a multi-award winning filmmaker and trained teacher - He can work to broadcast standard and has been trained to a high level in directing, camera operation, sound recording, Video editing and script development. His children's film ‘Show & Spell’ is the only UK film council short to have been bought by the BBC for Inclusion in their regular broadcast output.  Over the last ten years Quentin has gained experience in a wide range of educational contexts ranging from early years through to University. He enjoys working in schools and teaching young people the skills necessary to become great filmmakers. He is happy working collaboratively with other teachers to create films and also has expertise in photography and new media, areas of interest which he have actively developed during his years as an educator in schools.

Science

Richard is an experienced teacher who has taught across the full range of ages and abilities in a large inner city secondary school. He has management experience as Assistant Head of Science for several years and acting Deputy Head of Science for some time. During this time he had responsibility for Year 9, including SATS, KS3 and KS4. While in charge of KS4 he introduced a new course to the school to enable more students to access science at a higher level. Richard is committed to helping students to achieve their best possible grades and has excellent classroom management skills. He has also been through several OFSTED inspections and has been praised in them. He is passionate about science and tries to pass his passion to his students; this is why we believe he will be a great asset to a Science Department.

Psychology

Nigel has developed skills and gained experience of teaching through various job roles. Whilst he worked in healthcare he taught individuals how to use equipment, improve their behaviour and cope with daily tasks. During University he organised study groups to help students that were struggling with neuropsychology and statistics. Nigel is a conscientious character who has a professional manner and is very well organised. He understands the importance of having a flexible approach to teaching, as learning can vary throughout ages, abilities and subjects. Many of Nigel’s past roles involved being able to motivate individuals to follow a particular course of action, and to support them to reach their goals.

Teaching Assistant

Charlotte holds a positive attitude to life and a good sense of humour which helps when dealing with children and their complex needs. She enjoys working with young children and making a difference to their development and learning. She is able to build strong working relationships and is able to provide effective support for both the teachers and pupils. We have received outstanding feedback on Charlotte from her most recent placement at Sydney Smith when her contract came to an end and we have no hesitation in recommending her to any school.

Psychology

Jill is a highly motivated and confident teacher who has respect for, and enjoys working with young adults. Throughout her teaching career she has effectively formed trusting relationships with students enabling them to feel comfortable approaching her to help them solve academic and personal issues; helping people achieve their full potential is a key feature of her ambition. Primary

 Portia has several years experience of working in primary schools, 2 of those in a teaching capacity. She spent a year working on a voluntary basis in a local primary school for three/four days each week and then completed her PGCE at Hull University. During her time studying she successfully completed three teaching placements at local schools. Since working with us she has been asked for by name by many of the schools she has been into, often when teaching challenging classes. Portia also has experience with SEN and Hard of Hearing students.

All Primary Ages

Since graduating with a PGCE in 1986, Amanda has worked as a freelance artist in schools and as a Supply Teacher. As well as everyday classroom subjects she has worked with pupils of all ages on projects such as: Tudor dancing and music, thinking skills, circus skills, storytelling, film-making, how to write a quest story. Amanda creates the projects, tailoring them to request or coming up with independent schemes of work and delivering them in schools. This sort of work can be either over a prolonged period of time or finished within a day.  She has also dealt with the day to day running of a business (Accounts, advertising, computing, ECT) and as a supply teacher she has worked across the ages, teaching all diversities of subjects. Amanda is a passionate practitioner.

NQT

Nicole has worked in primary schools for the last 12 years, gaining excellent experience across all year groups. Her recent experience includes teaching a mixed Year 3/4 class, some with SEN requirements and statements. This has allowed her to complete her first term of her NQT year successfully. Previous to this, she worked in a local primary school for 8 years, initially starting as a teaching assistant and working her way up to a HLTA, which included covering PPA for all classes. She gained experience in planning and delivering various lessons across all key stages including foundation stage.

Teaching Assistant

Elaine is a motivated person who is committed to ensuring pupils achieves their full potential. She is able to form relationships with children and young people whilst maintaining the boundaries of professionalism. She also holds extensive experience of differentiating work for individual pupils needs and can plan and implement intervention strategies for pupils who are underachieving for either groups or individual pupils and can work with these pupils independently for them to achieve their goals. She also understands that all pupils develop and learn differently and what impact it can have on their learning and is able to develop strategies on how to overcome these. She holds good knowledge of the National Curriculum and scheme of work relating to KS3/4 in particularly History and Geography. She has a good understanding of the Safe Guarding of Children and Young People and of schools policies and procedures and is fully aware of the relevant policies, codes of practice and relevant legislations as well as the Every Child Matters agenda. She has received some training and experience of performing restorative practice techniques to resolve conflicts and rebuild relationships, between pupils, colleagues, parent/carers.
